Conversation I just had with my doctor's appointment desk:

Me: Hi, I called yesterday and got an appointment with Dr. B for June 29th... I was told that was the first available, but I was hoping you maybe had something sooner?
(Nurse takes my name and other identifying info, sees what type of appointment it is)
Nurse: I could squeeze you in on the 22nd...
Me: That would be great. The sooner the better.
Nurse: Is everything okay? are you not feeling well?
Me (laughs nervously) Oh! Oh no! I'm fine! I....(pause)... I just started a new relationship?
Nurse: Ah...
Me: So yeah, I need to get an STD screen and I'd like to talk about birth control...
Nurse: So is this for a physical?
Me: No, just an annual?
Nurse: They usually get done together.
Me: Oh... does that mean you can't squeeze me in?
Nurse: Oh no. I can get you in.
(we set time)
Me: Thank you so much. Sorry for all the too personal information.
Nurse: Oh... you should hear the things people tell me. You don't WANT to hear the things people tell me... At least yours is happy.
Me: Yes. I'm definitely happy. Thank you.
